Exporting and sharing your field data from VicMap
Field data is only useful when it reaches the office. VicMap gives you two outputs: KML files for waypoints, and branded PDF reports of everything marked. This guide covers both, what each contains, and how to get a licence.
Export waypoints as KML
KML opens in Google Earth, QGIS and most GIS software.
- Open your map.
- Tap the Pins tab.
- Tap Export KML.
- On the share sheet, pick where to send the file (WhatsApp, email, Files) or save it.
You see "KML shared" or "KML file downloaded". The file is named after the map, ending in `_waypoints.kml`. Each waypoint becomes a Placemark with its name, notes, colour and coordinates in WGS84 latitude and longitude. If you have no waypoints, VicMap tells you "No waypoints to export".
Generate a PDF report
- Open the menu (☰) and tap Task marking & report.
- Under Report settings, add your company name and logo in Settings if you want them in the report. Your summary fields are remembered between reports.
- Tap Generate PDF report.
The report lists every marked task with flag colour, note, done state and date, plus a full-page project map showing your marks, pins and recorded track. The report is generated on the phone, offline.
Open Reports from the menu to see saved reports. You can View, Edit, Share or Delete each one. Tap Share to send the PDF through WhatsApp, Telegram or email. Sharing needs signal only for the messaging app itself.
The logo in the report footer is VicMap's on the Personal plans. With the Enterprise plan the report carries your company branding.
Connect to the office and GIS
- KML to your computer: open it in Google Earth or import it into QGIS or another GIS tool.
- Dashboard plans: with Personal + Dashboard, tap Send to office on a report and it lands in the office dashboard inbox. The dashboard also offers a Map Library: upload a map once and it appears on linked phones under Map Library.
- Maps in: GeoPDF maps come from your office GIS. That is the other half of the loop. See Loading a GeoPDF.
VicMap does not export GPX, and it does not export the recorded track or drawn areas as separate GIS files today. Those appear in the PDF report.

FAQ
Which file formats can VicMap export?
KML for waypoints, and PDF for reports. There is no GPX export at present.
Can I send reports without internet?
You can generate and save them offline. Sharing or sending to the office needs a connection at that moment.
What happens when my trial ends?
The app waits for a licence key. Your maps and work remain on the phone.
