VicMap is an offline map application for field crews, published by Victech ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: VicMap is built to work offline, and your maps, positions and markings stay on your own device.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. There are no third-party trackers or analytics SDKs in the app.
1. Information the app uses
Location (GPS): With your permission, VicMap reads your device's GPS to show your live position on the map and to record walk and road tracks. This happens on the device using the phone's own GPS hardware — it needs no internet and is not sent to us.
Background location: If you start track or road recording, VicMap can keep recording your position while the screen is off, so a full day in the field is captured. This runs only while you have an active recording and stops when you stop it.
Your maps, waypoints, markings and tracks: The PDF maps you import and everything you mark on them are stored locally on your device only.
Photos: Only if you choose a company logo image for your PDF reports. The image is stored on your device and used only in reports you generate.
Company license activation (business licenses only): If you enter a company license code, the app contacts our licence server once to register your device (a randomly generated device identifier, not your name) so your company can manage its device seats. Personal licences and the free version do not contact any server.
2. What we receive
For the free version and personal licences, VicMap works entirely offline and sends us nothing. For company licences, our server receives only:
a random device identifier and an optional device label (e.g. phone model) to manage licence seats;
the licence code, so we can verify it and count devices;
if your company subscribes to the optional dashboard, PDF reports and map files that your company chooses to upload or distribute through it.
We never receive your live GPS position, your markings, or your maps unless you explicitly generate and upload a report through the company dashboard.
3. Permissions
Location — to show your position and record tracks. You can decline; the rest of the app still works.
Photos / Files — to import a PDF map or a logo image that you select.
Notifications — to show a notification while a background recording is running.
4. Data retention and deletion
Everything the app stores lives on your device; uninstalling the app removes it. For company licences, device records and any reports/maps you uploaded to the dashboard are kept while the licence is active and can be deleted by your company administrator, or by contacting us.
5. Children
VicMap is a professional field tool and is not directed at children.
6. Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
